'Touch GIS' Fieldwork App Introduces Free Tier

Touch GIS announces a free tier for the popular mobile field data mapping app available on iPhone & iPad.

Previously users were able to install the app and signup for a 14-day free trial period. "We realized some users needed more time to evaluate the many features of Touch GIS," says Joe Wilson, head of product. Users can now explore all the features of Touch GIS (with the exception of offline map caching and file export) for as long as needed with the free license tier.

Touch GIS is valuable for a wide variety of fieldwork. The mobile app is commonly used for geologic exploration, utility mapping, farming, real estate, search & rescue, and other use cases. Touch GIS has become a popular alternative to ERSI's Collector application. Users cite the apps flexibility and advanced drawing capabilities as some of the many reasons to adopt the platform.

Additional features available in Touch GIS include point, line, & polygon drawing features, an offline workflow, WMS/WMTS support, customizable attribute forms, custom feature class creation, SHP, KML, KMZ, GeoJSON, GPX support, and more.

Users can active the free tier by installing the app from the App Store and setting up an account. The app is free to install as well.

Users who wish to unlock offline map caching and exporting capabilities can purchase an annual or monthly license. Discounts are available for educational institutions, qualified non-profits, and credentialed US federal government employees.
